Benita Rose, concert pianist and former college professor of piano, known as the “Romantic pianist” whose playing is described as “mesmerizing and transcending,” is a several -time international competition winner, who skyrocketed to international fame through her performances and recordings of the piano music of living Spanish composer Marcos Fernández-Barrero. She has performed his music throughout the world, at music teacher conferences, and at Carnegie Hall where she received high praise for her performance and where she will be playing for the second time in eight months, this time with music of Franz Liszt, as first prize winner of the solo division of the New York Debut Competition. She received very enthusiastic reviews for her virtuosic Chopin playing from Pianist magazine and was featured on their Instagram and YouTube channels in April 2025. That same month she was a guest on “Inspired Lives” airing from Ireland, where her album, “Libre, Free at Last – Music of Marcos Fernández-Barrero” is being aired regularly by host Ciara Lawless. Ms. Rose’s Gershwin Concerto performance aired on over 200 NPR radio stations on Martin Goldsmith’s  program, “Performance Today. Last month, Ms. Rose presented Latvian female composers at the Women Composers Festival of Hartford, Connecticut. In 2024, Ms. Rose performed in New York City twelve times. This spring and summer, Ms. Rose will be performing in China and touring Europe for the fourth time. Ms. Rose is pedagogically descended from Beethoven, Czerny, and Liszt through her principal teachers, Louis Crowder, Joseph Villa, and Luiz de Moura Castro.
